National Museum of Natural History

The National Museum of Natural History (English: National Museum of Natural History ) is a museum of natural history at the National Mall in Washington, DC, United States. It is one of the 19 museums of the Smithsonian Institution. Admission is free and it is, with the exception of December 25, open all year. The collection includes about 500 million copies of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks and meteorites, and human cultural artifacts. With 7.4 million visitors, it was 2009, the museum with the most visitors in the environment of the Smithsonian museums. In addition, the museum complex houses 185 naturalists, the largest number of scientists in a museum in the world. The museum was opened on 11 March 1910, the construction work to be finished only on 20 June 1911.
