Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (short: STRI ) is an American research facility, the only one within the Smithsonian Institution, which is located outside the United States. It is headquartered in Panama, where it maintains several research stations, including Barro Colorado Iceland on the Calzada de Amador in the Panama Canal. The local rain forest is considered the best forschtes tropical ecosystems worldwide.
