National Union (Israel)

The National Union (Hebrew: האיחוד הלאומי; ha - ha - Ichud Leumi ) is a combined list of nationalist parties in Israel.

Development

The organization exists as a common list of three radical nationalist parties Moledet, Ha - Herut Hadasha and Tekumah since 1999. 2000 left Herut Ha - Hadasha the Union, while the nationalist- populist party Jisra'el immigrants Beiteinu joined the National Union.

In the 1999 Knesset election, the National Union received four out of 120 mandates, in 2003 there were seven. Following the election of Ariel Sharon as Prime Minister and party leader Avigdor Lieberman received Rechaw'am Ze'ewi, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Tourism. Once this has been the victim of a 2001 attack of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine on October 17, the organization left the government. In 2005, the National Union protested against the policies of Sharon, the Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip was removed.

At the Knesset in 2006 Jisra'el Beiteinu joined then again independently on, reached eleven mandates and thus landed at No. 5, just behind Likud. Avigdor Lieberman had a polemic with racist views about the deportation of Arabs with Israeli citizenship before the election. The National Union under the top candidate Benjamin Elon reached with the National Religious Party 7.1% of the vote and nine seats in parliament.

For the Knesset in 2009, the National Union united with the National Religious Party to HaBajit haJehudi (Jewish house). Some of their members, especially from the parties Moledet and Tkuma, but refused to support the merger and came together with the secular- nationalist party Hatikva and the religious party Eretz Jisra'el Shelanu under the name "National Union " with the top candidates Yaakov Katz for choice of. This party still received 3.3% of the vote and four seats in parliament.

For the 2013 Knesset finally Moledet and Tkuma joined the " Jewish house" under Naftali Bennett, which reached 9.1% of the vote and 12 seats in parliament, while Hatikva and Eretz Jisra'el Shelanu the ultranationalitische party Otzma LeJisra'el ( "strength for Israel " ) established that missed the 2 % threshold for entry into the Knesset.

Belief and programmatic

The National Union 's policy is that beliefs of Judaism to justify claims of ownership served to the region of Palestine.
