The Universidad Nacional de La Plata ( UNLP ) ( German National University of La Plata) is a university founded in 1905 in the Argentine city of La Plata.

History

Soon after founding the city of La Plata in 1882 recognized the need of a university, so it was decided in 1897 to found a university. The structure of the university was substantially driven by Joaquín Victor González, who was appointed in March 1906 as the first president.

The university is one of more than a dozen museums, including the Natural History Museum and Research Institute La Plata Museum. In 1997, the museums were cross-linked. Since then, nine other museums there were connected.

The University has received since its inception coincided with the growing urban population steadily increasing influx of students. 2011 were enrolled 98 954 students.

The university offers its faculties in a total of more than 100 study programs and degrees.
