Nauruan parliamentary election, 2007

The parliamentary elections in Nauru in 2007 took place on 25 August 2007.

History and results

After the first regular legislative session without a vote of no confidence for decades without major political unrest President Ludwig Scotty moved in July 2007 before the scheduled for October elections by two months. On 25 August 2007, the Nauruan people elected a new parliament; first reliable results are expected in early September.

Despite the sometimes unpopular reform policy Scotty he could win according to the first projections 15 of the 18 seats. On August 28, President Scotty was confirmed in the Nauruan Parliament in office. The shrunken three opposition parliamentarians to ex- President Rene Harris first nominated Vice Scotty David Adeang for the office, who declined on the grounds that it was not a game.
