Navteq

Navteq ( NAVTEQ until February 2004 Navigation Technologies ( Navtech ) ) is a US-based provider of geospatial data for use in navigation devices. History

The company, headquartered in Chicago was founded in 1985. In 1987, the first product was introduced: For 50 cents each way an electronic road information in the region around San Francisco could be used at car rental agencies, hotels and also by post. Following a restructuring of Nokia is the closure of the offices in Bonn and Malvern (Pennsylvania) was announced with the dismissal of 300 employees in September 2011. From its location in Bonn present the congestion warning service TMCpro is only operated by the company Navteq Services GmbH.

Business

Roads and other objects are geometric and attributive digitally captured and sold to manufacturers of navigation devices, for example in the GDF format.
