Navteq

Navteq ( NAVTEQ until February 2004 Navigation Technologies ( Navtech ) ) is a US-based provider of geospatial data for use in navigation devices. For Navteq owned by takeover of Mapsolute in 2007, Map24. Since 2011, the company is part of Location & Commerce from Nokia, which is now run as HERE. History

The company, headquartered in Chicago was founded in 1985. In 1987, the first product was introduced: For 50 cents each way an electronic road information in the region around San Francisco could be used at car rental agencies, hotels and also by post. In the 1990s, the company changed its business concept: The information centers were not established, but only licenses for the electronic cards were offered. Navteq took over in early January 2009, T-Systems Traffic GmbH T-Systems. The provider of TMCpro has since been trading as Navteq Services GmbH.

Following a restructuring of Nokia is the closure of the offices in Bonn and Malvern (Pennsylvania) was announced with the dismissal of 300 employees in September 2011. From its location in Bonn present the congestion warning service TMCpro is only operated by the company Navteq Services GmbH.

Business

Roads and other objects are geometric and attributive digitally captured and sold to manufacturers of navigation devices, for example in the GDF format.
