Geography

Geographical Location

The Samtgemeinde nominal village is situated on the northern edge of the Deister and 16 km south of the Steinhuder sea, between the rivers Weser and Leine, at the junction of this low mountain range to the North German Plain, between the neighboring cities Wunstorf, Barsinghausen and Hagen, 35 km west of Hanover.

Samtgemeinde outline

The Samtgemeinde nominal village was formed in its existing form now on 1 March 1974. It consists of the member communities

  • Town of Bad Nenndorf Waltringhausen, Horsten and Riepen
  • Haste with Wilhelm village
  • Hohnhorst with Scheller, Rehren, Rehrwiehe, Nordbruch and Ohndorf with the Bradtmühle.
  • Suthfeld with Kreuzriehe, Helsinghausen and Riehe

History

In 1604 nominal village witch hunts were conducted: Two women came in witch trials, one was probably burned. From the district Horsten Anneke Stemmermann were the same year probably burned in a witch trial, and from the district Riepen two women.

On the initiative of Landgrave Wilhelm IX. of Hesse-Cassel emerged in 1787, the " Gutsbezirk Nendorff " with the bathing facilities and the spa gardens. Thus, the foundation was laid for the current significance of the bathroom as the center of the velvet municipality.

Very favorable geographical location had an impact on the development of the integrated municipality. The former municipalities Helsinghausen, Kreuzriehe and Riehe merged to form the community Suthfeld.

Parks

  • Bath nominal village has a 34 -acre historical spa park with historic buildings and a 200 year old trees. Unique in Germany is a small alley of nearly 100 rare Süntelbuchen on the western edge of the spa park.
