The Nepal Rastra Bank ( NRB, Nepali: नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंक ) is the central bank of Nepal, based in Kathmandu. The seven branches of the bank are located in Biratnagar, Birganj, Dhangadhi, Janakpur, Nepalganj, Pokhara and Siddharthanagar. On 15 July 2008, the Bank had total assets of 211 billion Nepalese rupees.

The Nepal Rastra Bank was established on the basis of the Central Bank Act 1955 ( Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2012 ( 1955) ) in 1956. A new law in 2002 (Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058 (2002) ) confirmed the function of a central bank. Was on 22 March 2010 Yuba Raj Khatiwada Chairman ( Governor ) of the Bank.

The main tasks of the Central Bank to ensure price stability in support of economic development, the supply of the banking sector with liquidity and the monitoring and promotion of the banking sector.
