Neumarkt an der Ybbs is a market town with 1842 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Melk, Lower Austria, Austria.

Policy

The council has 19 seats, Mayor Otto hunters.

In the municipal elections of 2005, the ÖVP and the SPÖ reached 11 8 mandates. In the municipal elections of 2010, the SPÖ lost two seats to the ÖVP and the FPÖ did not occur to.

Economy

The majority of the population commutes to work in the nearby towns Ybbs an der Donau, Wiesel castle and Amstetten.

Traffic

The community is conveniently moderately accessible by the motorway A1, take the road B1 Wiener Strasse and the Western Railway.

Culture and sights

  • Parish Church of St.. Nicholas: late Gothic style with modern extension
  • Town Hall: Renaissance building; former toll house and seat of government Starhemberg. Today, the top floor of the town hall, a school and museum of local history, which is stocked with finds from the burial.
  • Holy Trinity Column: Baroque, with 1693 designated, in the district of wall
  • Judgment Cross: (former execution site ) of 1662, is located on the exit road towards Karlsbach
