NGC 189
NGC 189 is an open cluster in the constellation Cassiopeia, which is about 3500 light years away from Earth.
Discovery
Originally NGC 189 was discovered by Caroline Herschel on September 27, 1783. The discovery, however, was not quoted and fell into oblivion. On October 27, 1829 NGC 189 was rediscovered by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel.
