Nick Johnston (politician)

Nick Johnston is a Scottish politician of the Conservative Party.

Johnston joined the 1999 parliamentary elections as a candidate of the Conservative Party for the constituency of Ochil. He received 4151 votes (11.3% ), which was in third place behind George Reid of the SNP and the winner of the constituency Richard Simpson of the Labour Party. On the basis of the election results, however, Johnston moved as one of three candidates of the Conservative Party list for the election Region Mid Scotland and Fife in the newly created parliament.

After Johnston had been absent since the beginning of 2001 for health reasons to the Parliament, he announced mid-year his resignation. In addition to health reasons and the disillusion Johnston on the Scottish Parliament to have played a role in the resignation. His successor was Murdo Fraser.
