Murdo Fraser ( born September 5, 1965 in Inverness ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

Fraser attended the Inverness Royal Academy and the University of Aberdeen earned a bachelor's degree and a Diploma in Law. He worked as a Solicitor in Aberdeen and Edinburgh and worked as a solicitor for commercial law. During his time at the University of Aberdeen Fraser came in contact with the Conservative Party and served as chairman of the Scottish Young Conservatives.

Political career

For the first time joined Fraser in 1997 as a national election as he was placed in the general election as a candidate of the Conservative Party in the constituency of East Lothian. He could combine the second-largest share of votes in coming. In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999, he took up for the constituency of North Tayside, but reached only second behind the candidate of the SNP, John Swinney. On the Evaluation of the Conservative Party for choosing Region Mid Scotland and Fife Fraser was in fourth place and was not therefore one of the three list candidates who moved into the newly created parliament. At the general election in 2001, he took up for the constituency of North Tayside, however, the choice could not decide for themselves. In 2001, for health reasons, resigned mid-year from his position with Nick Johnston a list of candidates, Fraser moved as the next placed after the first time and gained a seat in the Scottish Parliament. At the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 Fraser joined respectively to the constituency of North Tayside, but lost in both cases, John Swinney. However, he drew each as a list candidate for Region Mid Scotland and Fife in parliament. As the constituency North Tayside was dissolved in the wake of the election district reform in 2011, Fraser was a candidate for the 2011 parliamentary elections for the constituency of North Perthshire, were in which large portions of North Tayside risen. He was defeated again but John Swinney secured again on the regional list his seat in Parliament.

Deputy party leader

Since 2005, Fraser acted behind Annabel Goldie as vice-chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party. As Goldie wanted to deliver the presidency in 2011, Fraser announced as the successor to run. His plans called the greater separation of the Scottish Parliament by the British and the establishment of a separate Scottish Conservative Party that no longer communicates with the British parent party. However, Fraser was defeated in the election for party leader Ruth Davidson. His successor as deputy went to Jackson Carlaw.
