Nicola Mancino

Nicola Mancino (born 15 October 1931 in Montefalcione, Avellino ) is a former Italian politician of the Christian Democracy (DC), the Partito Popolare Italiano ( PPI), and most recently the party La Margherita - Democrazia è Libertà.

Life

Mancino studied post-school law and worked after graduation as a lawyer and later as a journalist. He first became involved in addition to regional policy and was both 1971-1972 and 1975-1976 President of the Campania region.

On 20 June 1976 he was first elected as a candidate of the DC to a member of the Senato della Repubblica (Senate ) and was this first until his resignation on 29 July 1992. During his long affiliation Senate he has served on numerous committees and Permanent inter alia from September 1977 to July 1981 Vizeversorsitzender the Standing Committee on Constitutional Affairs.

In January 1981, he was named Vice Chairman of the Group of DC in the Senate and had this position until July 1983 and was thereafter between October 1983 and July 1984 the Office of the Vice President. He was subsequently appointed to December 1985 Chairman of the DC Group in the Senate and held that post again from July 1987 to July 1989 and from April to June 1992.

On June 28, 1992, he was appointed to the first cabinet of Prime Minister Giuliano Amato as interior minister and kept this minister also discussed in the first government of Prime Minister Carlo Azeglio Ciampi to 19 April 1994. At the same time he was on 29 April 1993 to April 19, 1994 Minister without Portfolio with responsibility for the coordination of civil protection.

After the dissolution of DC, he was elected a member of the Partito Popolare Italiano ( PPI) and for this on March 27, 1994 in the Senate, of which he was now up to his resignation on 24 July 2006. Between April 1994 and May 1996, he was also Chairman of the PPI Group in the Senate.

Subsequently, he was on 9 May 1996 President of the Senate and holding office for just over five years until 29 May 2001.

Mancino, the last consisting of the PPI emerged Party La Margherita - belonged Democrazia è Libertà, last took place on 9 April 2006 on the senator, then put but three months later his mandate. Most recently he was on 6 June to 11 July 2006 or Chairman of the Standing Committee on Constitutional Affairs.

After retiring from the Senate, he was on 1 August 2006 Vice President of the Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura (Supreme Judicial Council ) and worked there until August 2, 2010.
