Geography

The municipality is located on the northern edge of the Magdeburg region, north of the municipality of the ear unit flows and is the Mittelland Canal.

History

It was created on 1 January 2004 from the voluntary association of municipalities Dahlenwarsleben, United Ammensleben, Gutenswegen, Jersleben, Small Ammensleben, Meseberg, Samswegen and Vahldorf, which previously belonged to the administrative community Low flange.

Mayor

Mayor of the municipality is Erika Tholotowsky, elected on 27 June 2004.

Parish council

The elected on 7 June 2009 City Council consists of 20 members. In addition to the mayor, there are 11 representatives of the CDU, 2 representatives of the SPD, 5 representatives of FWG and 1 representative of the FDP.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 5 July 2004 by the regional council of Magdeburg.

Blazon: "In about two parallel green, black contoured shaft bars bars an open archway silver ( ellipsoidal ) in the door opening a horse's rump cut off. "

The newly formed unit community took over the crest of the previously approved resolution Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Low flange. The colors of the community are silver ( white) - Green.

It should be the architecture of the entrance gates of the flange courtyards connected in this territory with the assessment of the horses pulling daily through these gates to the fields. Furthermore, the entrance gate to the same goal from the north ( Altmark) symbolize in the flange. The two wave beams are the geographical parallelism of the ear and the Mittelland Canal, crossing the territory of the municipality.

The community lies with the breakpoints Vahldorf and Great Ammensleben on the railway line Oebisfelde -Magdeburg.

Sports

The weightlifters of the SSV Samswegen were 2006 and 2007 German team champion.
