Geography
Geographical Location
Parts of the Drömling residing in the city, which is located on the border with Lower Saxony, on the northeast edge of the Lappwalds and at the transition zone from the Altmark to Magdeburg. Through the area, the rivers flow Aller, ear and Spetze. In the city there is the deserted village Nievoldhagen and the majority of the landscape conservation area Harbke - Allertal.

History
On 1 January 2010, included the previously independent municipalities Doehren, Eschenrode, Hödingen, Hörsingen, Schwanefeld, Seggerde, Siestedt, Walbeck and stains Weferlingen from the administrative community Flechtingen and the communities Bösdorf, Eickendorf, Etingen, Kathendorf, Rätzlingen and the city Oebisfelde from the administrative community Oebisfelde - Calvörde the city Oebisfelde - Weferlingen together. The remaining communities of the two administrative Communities founded the municipality Flechtingen. In essence, the urban area of the 2005 resolution and management communities Oebisfelde Weferlingen (except Beendorf ). On 1 September 2010, the former municipality Everingen was annexed by law. First, they had been co-managed from 1 January 2010 by the city.
Policy
The administration has its headquarters in Oebisfelde and a field office in Weferlingen.

The coat of arms was approved on 13 May 2011 by the county.
Blazon: "In fourteen silver stars bestreutem blue sign from occupied with a blue wave bar golden sign foot growing a golden oak acorns with silver and golden capsules. On the oak center half right inverted guardant silver owl on the chest a silver plate, in two black diamonds bar- wise. "
The coat of arms was designed by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch. It combines the symbols from the coat of arms Coat of arms of Oebisfelde ( owl ) and Weferlingen (oak) with fourteen scattered stars as a reference to the other former municipalities, while the wave beam is symbolic of the rivers Aller, ear and Spetze.

Twinning
The individual districts each also has partnerships that are maintained by the places themselves. So the village Oebisfelde is twinned with the Polish Lidzbark ( According castle ) and Weferlingen since 2000 with the Bulgarian Svilengrad.

Traffic
Through the urban area, the Berlin- Lehrter Railway and the railway lines Oebisfelde -Magdeburg and Haldensleben - Weferlingen lead through the urban area. The Oebisfelde station has long been a major railway junction and 1945-1990 border station on the inner German border.
