Nisar Bazmi

Nisar Bazmi (* 1925 in Jalgaon, Mumbai, † March 22, 2007 in Karachi ) was a Pakistani composer.

At the age of 13, he received lessons in Bombay in ragas and instruments of Khan Saheb Aman Ali Khan. 1939 Bazmi was hired as an artist of All India Radio (AIR). With its written for the drama Nadir Shah Durrani songs radio hits were all, Bazmi gained notoriety and was taken then as a film music composer for the film Jamana Couple ( 1946). Until his departure to Pakistan in 1962 Nisar Bazmi wrote music for about 40 films in India, 14 more followed thereafter in Pakistan. Among his most successful works there, the songs Raza Mir's movie Lakhoan include My Aik.

During his career in Pakistan Nisar Bazmi wrote songs for Runa Laila, among other things, Ahmed Rushdi, Noor Jehan and Mehdi Hassan. He received five Nigar Awards for Best Film Music Composer ( 1968, 1970, 1972, 1979 and 1986).
