The municipality is located in the southwestern corner of the basin Hornonitrianska kotlina ( German upper Nitra valley ) on the left bank of the river Nitrica at the height of 245 m nm The center is located 18 kilometers from Prievidza.
The church today Nitrica originated in 1960, when the locations Dvorníky nad Nitricou ( until 1931 " Dvorníky ", Hungarian Bélaudvarnok ) and Račice ( Rákosvölgy ) merged together, both former places are today parts of municipalities.
The Račice was first mentioned in 1113 as Radscis, Dvorníky however, only in 1249 as Vduornunk. Due to the geographical proximity of the two places share his fate: they were since the late Middle Ages the manor of Skačany, since 1777 then to Nitransky chapter. In both places, agriculture was the main occupation, in addition to smaller dimensions also Viticulture and saffron trade.
