Nižný Hrušov

Nižný Hrušov ( until 1927 slovak also " Hrušovík " or " Hrušov "; Hungarian Alsókörtvélyes ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1603 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the Region belongs to Okres Vranov nad Topľou, part of Prešov and is counted to the traditional landscape Zemplín.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northern part of the East Slovak Lowland on the left bank of the Ondava. The center is located at an altitude of 130 m nm and is 13 kilometers by road from Vranov nad Topľou away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1246 as Kurthuelus writing. 1828 are 105 houses and 776 inhabitants recorded, who were employed in agriculture and Obstlerei. In addition to these commutes today a part of the population in surrounding cities.
