Nominalia of the Bulgarian khans

The name of the Bulgarian khans book, also listing the Bulgarian khans called ( Bulgarian Именник на българските ханове ) is a short manuscript, lists the names of some early Bulgarian ruler the time of her reign and her clan membership. The collection was discovered by the Russian historian Alexander Popov during his investigation to Russian chronically. So far, three Russian copies of the document were discovered. The earliest transcription of Sergei Semenovich Uvarov is dated to the 15th century and the other two by Mikhail Pogodin to the 16th century.

While there are some differences in the spelling of the name in the individual manuscripts, but they have one thing in common: In none of the manuscripts of the Central Asian title Khan is mentioned. Only Asparuch ( the founder of Danube Bulgaria ) and his five successors carry a title, namely the Slavic title Knjaz.

  • Besmer three years and his clan was Dulo and his year was the ox, the fifth ( shegor, vem [ vechem ] ).

These five princes ruled the kingdom on the other side of the Danube over 515 years with shaved heads and then came to this side of the Danube Knjas Asparuch and until now ( he reigns )

  • Asparuch Knjas 61 years ( at the moment). His clan was Dulo and his year was the Dragon, the first ( Vereni, alem ).
  • Tervel 21 years. His clan was Dulo and his year was the horse, the fourth ( tekuchitem, tvirem ).
  • Sewar 15 years. His clan was Dulo and his year was the pheasant, the twelfth ( toh, altom ).
  • Kormisosch 17 years old. His clan was Vokil and his year was the ox, the fourth ( shegor, tvirem ).
  • Winech 7 years. His clan was Ukil. and his year was the ox, the first ( [ imen ] shegor, alem ).
  • Telez three years. His clan was Ugain and his year was the rodent, the twelfth ( Somor, old ).
  • Umor (reigned ) 40 days. His clan was Ukil and his year was the snake, the twelfth ( dilom, tutom ).

The words in brackets are in proto- Bulgarian and represent the year of the accession of each emperor after the Proto-Bulgarian calendar.

Some researchers see in the Khan Awitochol the Hun leader Attila. It is further assumed that Khan was Gostun of house Ermi maternal uncle of Khagan Kubrat. The paternal mansion of Kubrat but had been Dulo.
