The North Taranaki Bight is a large bay extending to the north-west coast of New Plymouth District Taranaki region on the North Island of New Zealand. Its coastline extends from Cape Egmont, first in eastern, then in a northerly direction. The bay has a counterpart in the South Taranaki Bight south of Cape Egmont.

The extent of the bay varies depending on the source. Tighter definitions belong to their the area between the mouth of the Waitara River to the mouth of the Mokau River. Other sources also refer to the coast north Tirua Point ( 50 km southwest of Te Kuiti ) or even to Albatross Point near the entrance to Kawhia Harbour one.

The State Highway 3 follows the shoreline of Waitara to Awakino.
