Nossa Senhora do Pópulo was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Caldas da Rainha. 16,201 inhabitants live in it (as at 30 June 2011).

History

The community was founded in the late 15th century on the initiative of Queen Eleanor of Portugal. In the course of the present town of Caldas Rainha (: thermal baths of Queen port.) developed there.

The community presented, along with Santo Onofre, the actual municipality of Caldas da Rainha dar. With the local government reform local elections in autumn 2013, it was with the previous communities Coto and São Gregório the new community União the Freguesias de Caldas da Rainha - Nossa Senhora do Pópulo, Coto e São Gregório summarized. Nossa Senhora do Pópulo became the seat of the new municipality.

Among the monuments of the community includes:

  • Hospital Termal, one of the oldest still-functioning hospitals in the world

  • Igreja do Espírito Santo

The Culture and Convention Centre Centro Cultural e de Congresos de Caldas da Rainha is also within the municipal area.
