Salir do Porto is a comune ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Caldas da Rainha. 795 inhabitants live in it (as at 30 June 2011).

History

The municipality received city rights in 1515 ( Foral ) by King Manuel I, but there are different opinions among historians as to whether the place first city rights I. already under King Sancho ( 1154-1211 ) or even under his father D.Afonso Henriques ( 1109 - 1185), Portugal's first king, had received.

Culture and sights

Located above the coastal ruins of Barbara Chapel ( Capela de Santana da Ruínas ) and the 18th-century parish church Igreja de Paroquial Salir do Porto (also Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição ) are listed buildings.
