Nový Ples

Nový Ples ( German New Ples ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 15 kilometers north-east of the center of Hradec Králové and belongs to Okres Náchod.

Geography

Nový Ples is on the left side of the Elbe and Mettau in their river level. The village is situated on the northern edge of the forest area Plesský les in the headwaters of Novopleský creek. To the northwest lies the fortress Josefstadt.

Neighboring towns are Stary Ples in the north, Kopeček in the northeast, Jasenná in the east, in the southeast Králova Lhota, Librice and Lejšovka in the south, and Smržov Vlkov the southwest, Rasošky in the west and Dolni Ples and Josefov in the northwest.

History

The village Nový Ples was founded during the 1780 construction of the fortress began in Ples. For the fortification of the middle part of the elongated village Ples had to be razed. For the removal of the inhabitants arose in 1782 within a year at the edge of fortress area, the new villages and Nový Ples Rasošek. These were built in wood construction, this individual buildings have been implemented and also the wood of demolished houses was partly re-use. Nový Ples was created by Librice on leading through the forest Rasoška or Esterházy way. Should be considered as part of the inhabitants of Ples resettled after Rozběřice, they searched for the Emperor to resettlement in the vicinity of their old village.

From the old village of Stary Ples only Ples and Dolni Ples remained, between which stood since 1793, renamed Josefov fortress. Together with Nový Ples and Rasošek formed Stary Ples and Dolni Ples the cadastral Ples and after the replacement of patrimonial the community Ples, which was dissolved in 1890.

In Nový Ples 1843 208 people lived in 30 houses; In 1890 it was 457 and the number of houses had doubled.
