Nuevo Mundo Lake

The Laguna Nuevo Mundo is a lake on the border between the two departments of Beni and Santa Cruz in the lowlands of Bolivia, 125 km south-east of Trinidad, capital of Beni Department. The northern part of the lake belongs to the municipality ( county ) San Andrés in the province Marbán, the southern part of the municipality of El Puente in the province of Guarayos.

The lake lies at an altitude of 175 m in the alluvial plain of the Llanos de Guarayos, between the Bolivian Río Grande in the southwest and the Río Ibare in the northeast, draining both the Río Mamoré out. The Laguna Nuevo Mundo has a length of nearly 12 km and a width of 7 km, its total area is 57.6 km ², its shores length 31 m.

Due to the seasonal and highly variable in the austral summer fairly high rainfall the lowlands around the Laguna Nuevo Mundo is subject to seasonal flooding, so that the population density of the region clearly km ² is below 0.5 inhabitants /.
