Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra
The Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra is the concert orchestra of the Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg.
It was founded on June 1, 1946 under the name of Franconian country Orchestra, it changed in 1963 with the opening of the Meistersinger Hall to present name. Every season, the Nuremberg Symphony 100 concerts in which they reach each year to 200,000 visitors. Despite the gravity of the repertoire on the music of Viennese Classicism and Romanticism, the orchestra is heard every season with works from five centuries.
Concerts
In two subscription series in the Meistersinger Hall, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra offer a wide range of classical music. Organization
The orchestra is supported by an association ( Frankish Landesorchester eV ), the chairman of this association is to support Herbert Coerper. It is institutionally sponsored by the Free State of Bavaria, from the city of Nuremberg and from the region of Middle Franconia and targeted support of sponsors from the business in concert projects. Seat of the orchestra since 1963, the Congress Hall, which houses the rehearsal hall of the orchestra and the Serenade. The rehearsal hall was expanded in 2008 to a new concert hall with 515 seats, temporarily used until 2010 by the Schauspielhaus Nuremberg and is since 2011 in addition to the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and other organizers. Film Music
The orchestra was awarded in February 1993 for his recording of the movie "Beauty and the Beast" with the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance category. For more than 40 years, the orchestra works in Hollywood with film producer. Among other things, it has taken the music of Miklós Rózsa to film "Quo Vadis " and " Ben Hur " in the 1950s.
