ÖBB Class 4030

With the series 4030 it was electric railcars of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB ) for the local public transport and regional transport and for the Wiener -speed rail.

History

The series 4030 was built in the years 1956 to 1975 first as a four -, three-part later than train ( railcar 4030, intermediate cars 7030, car tax 6030 ). From Innsbruck from the railcar inverted two-piece also to Reutte in Tyrol. As part of the corridor traffic they passed within space Garmisch -Partenkirchen also German territory. End of the 1950s, yet very innovative (especially regarding suspension and interior ), it was abolished because of the long lead time space already upon delivery of the last copies as the latest state of the art. The last Regionalzugleistungen in space Selzthal and Wiener Umland made ​​until 31 December 2004. Since this date, the series is considered to be scrapped.

As followers are mostly the delivered since 1979 and 4020 series push-pull trains in use.

4030.210 was re- equipped as a museum vehicle with the historical painting of the Vienna -speed rail and is positioned behind the Railway Museum Schwechat. The other sets were sold for scrap to private companies.

Sister Series 4130

As a variant of the series 4030 1958 four examples of the class were built in 4130 with two instead of one intermediate cars and adaptations for long-distance and used as a fast " Transalpin " between Vienna, Zurich and Basel.
