Oberlichtenau is a former municipality in the district of Bautzen Saxony and since 1 January 2009 a city district of Pulsnitz.

Geography

Oberlichtenau is located about twelve kilometers southwest of the city Kamenz and about 30 kilometers north-east of Dresden. The A4 is accessible via the approximately eight kilometers away junction Pulsnitz. Oberlichtenau located in the western Upper Lusatia in Pulsnitztal, between the hill chains of the Lusatian hills ( highest peak Keulenberg 413 m), in the transition between the shallow pond landscape in the north and the Lusatian mountains in the south.

The community Oberlichtenau consisted of the two districts Oberlichtenau and low Lichtenau. For the community Oberlichtenau was not for the village constitution.

Demographics

Bible Garden

The Bible Garden in Oberlichtenau is the first garden of its kind in Germany elements from biblical times dar. This garden was opened on 8 June 2005 and since that time draws to schools and community groups of various Christian churches. Here are objects ( rocks grave, Israelite altar, quarry crane etc. ) and plants from the biblical period shown in an open area. For a Byzantine basilica, the foundation stone was laid on 20 May 2006. The miniature basilica reached 7th in the competition for the German Tourism Award 2007. The Bible Garden was appointed by the Saxon State Minister Frank copper as the best holiday destination in the country in 2009.

Traffic

Oberlichtenau part of the traffic Oberelbe. The bus lines 170 and 312 offer weekday connections to railway station, Pulsnitz on the railway line Kamenz- Pirna, four kilometers south of Oberlichtenau. The line 170 also moves in the city Kamenz, the line 312 for Koenigsbrueck station on the railway line Koenigsbrueck -Dresden.
