Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe

The traffic Oberelbe (VVO ) is a traffic network of public transport (LPT ) through which a uniform basis tariff system was introduced in the transport of the partner companies in the area of ​​Dresden, on 24 May 1998.

History

In January 1994 the Transport Federation Upper Elbe was (Z- VOE ) established as a common purpose association of Dresden and the districts of Riesa -Großenhain, Meissen and Weißeritz circle. The task of the administration union was the common perception of the functions as a carrier task of public transport and the preparation of a traffic network. In 1996, the Z- VOE to the then district Kamenz and the district-free city Hoyerswerda was expanded a year later also joined the District Saxon Switzerland. Founding executive director of the Consorzio was Knut Ringat. The introduction of the composite tariff in traffic Oberelbe finally able to reach the Z- VOE May 24, 1998. On 1 January 2000, the purpose association founded the traffic Oberelbe GmbH, which incorporates the main tasks on behalf of the purpose of the association. Back in 1999, took over the Z- VOE functions as a regional rail transport authorities of the State Transport Corporation Saxony.

With the district reform in Saxony, the number of members of the Consorzio has been reduced. In the same year Burkhard Ehlen took over the position of Managing Director after Ringat was changed to the Rhine - Main Transport Association.

A formerly 1 January 2013 planned expansion of the composite area to the area of the ZVON, had to be postponed to an indefinite future date.

Means of transport

In the transport Oberelbe is a wide range of transportation in use: Regional trains of DB Regio Southeast (RB and RE) and other railway companies, the S-Bahn Dresden, trams in Dresden and in Kirnitzschtal, city buses and intercity buses, and the numerous Elbe ferries. There are also some very special transport. In connection with the new Saxon public transport on financial aid for the period after 2015, the VVO has a discussion about the partial replacement of tracks initiated by buses.

Tariff

The network area is divided into 28 zones.

In addition to the basic rates exist general promotional fares as the Elbe- Labe - Ticket for small border traffic to and from Bohemia and the transition rate VVO ZVON for trips to / from the tariff area of the transport association Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia. Semesterticket

The semester ticket, which pay for the students of the Dresden universities in general along with the student contribution, is considered semi-annual card for Dresden urban transport and - apart from some distance exceptions - the area of the traffic Oberelbe (VVO ) and regional trains in Saxony. It provides, however, not the same options as regular season tickets. It costs the students currently € 145.20 (as of winter semester 2012/ 13). For special transportation such as mountain or narrow-gauge railways, a special permit may be obtained if they are on the way to college. Otherwise, the semester ticket is not valid for the special tourist attractions, such as the monorail and funicular.

Transportation of bicycles and dogs

The time cards DVB permit free driving either a bicycle or dog (exclusive or ) within the validity period of the respective card. This does not apply for the semester ticket, which is valid all day, but permitted as derogating the free driving of a bicycle or dog only Monday to Friday from 19 clock clock bis 4 of the following day and on weekends all day.

The very active - free bicycle transport is possible only with purchase of a monthly bicycle map. This currently costs € 14.00 (as of summer 2010 ) and is not available as a monthly subscription card. A corresponding map is not available for the dogs taking.

HandyTicket

The Dresden Transport offer their passengers the possibility of certain tickets ( no discounted tickets ) online or purchase directly to the mobile phone. The phone is then used with a pre-set identification object as a ticket.

Job Ticket

For commuting transport operators and transport network offer as job tickets referred to. Through these employees receive a discounted by 20 % monthly subscription card if their employer participates in the reduction halfway through its grant. The job ticket is a contract between the transport companies and companies where at least 30 employees remove the job ticket, agreed. The city of Dresden exempt employers with appropriate offers from the obligation to provide evidence of existing parking spaces. The reduced need for parking space is referred to as the immediate advantage of the agreement.

Workshop Ticket

In cooperation with participating automotive services vehicle owners a special workshop ticket is offered for the outward and return journeys between home and workshop.

Combination ticket

Tickets for selected events ( cultural programs, exhibitions, sporting events ) are in line network of DVB as a ticket. The respective validity conditions can be found on the ticket itself

Dresden- City-Card and Dresden -Regio -Card

Specifically designed for tourists, make the Dresden -Cards a more comprehensive alternative to the combined ticket represents the Dresden -Cards are considered tickets, tickets for numerous cultural institutions ( museums of the Dresden State Art Collections (except Historic Green Vault ) ) and as a discount card for city and steamer trips, many exhibitions, various museums, theaters, selected restaurants as well as for shopping at DVB- partners. The Regio -Card expands the scope on the region around Dresden and offers in addition to the services of the City Card discounts on tourist attractions in the surrounding area. Tourist Attractions

Besides the usual trains and buses there in the VVO network some so-called " special tourist attractions ". Specifically, these are the two Dresden mountain railways as well as in the Saxon Switzerland Kirnitzschtalbahn and the elevator Bad Schandau. Two of the four trains running in the daily operation of steam narrow gauge railways in Saxony are beiheimatet well in VVO. The cross-border ferry Schoena - Hřensko Although not a tourist attraction, but it is also not included in the composite rate. There are also separate tariffs in euros or crowns for German or Czech citizens.

Night traffic

On the initiative of VVO run since July 13, 2003 various night lines in the Dresden surroundings. Thus, the night traffic DVB is supplemented. However, in contrast to the lines of the regional DVB Night transport only in the nights Friday / Saturday, Saturday / Sunday and on public holidays.
