Pirna-Sebnitz Upper Elbe Transport Company

The Oberelbische transport company Pirna- Sebnitz mbH ( OVPs ) operates bus, tram and ferry on the river Elbe in the district of Saxon Switzerland. The bus and ferry the OVPs are involved in the transport Oberelbe. The traffic area includes large parts of the county Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains and random routes in the city of Dresden and the district of Bautzen.

The OVPs was founded as a successor to the division of VEB passenger road transport Pirna on 10 February 1992.

In Pirna and Sebnitz the company has two bus depots. In addition, the depot Bad Schandau, are looked after from where buses, trams and ferries.

Between 1 August 2008 and the December 23, 2008 reversed the lines 208 ( Pirna - Dippoldiswalde ) and 211 ( Pirna - Freital ). Both lines participated in the course of Saxony district government reform on the operation to convey especially the district office between the new employee locations. The services were rendered in each half from the OVPs and the Regional Transport Dresden. As passenger numbers remained well below expectations, the last trips were carried out on 23 December 2008.

Ferries

In addition there exists the F7 ferry service between the villages of Niederrathen and Oberrathen the spa town of Rathen. However, this ferry is part of the municipality of Rathen.

The OVPs also runs a shipping line between Bad Schandau, cribs, Schmilka and Hřensko. This only runs from Easter to end of October.

Tram

The OVPs operates Kirnitzschtalbahn which operates between Bad Schandau and the Lichtenhainer waterfall.
