Steinigtwolmsdorf

Steinigtwolmsdorf (Sorbian Wołbramecy, oberlausitzisch - colloquially Wunsdurf ) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen in the southeast of the Free State of Saxony, right on the border with the Czech Republic.

Geography and transport

Steinigtwolmsdorf located in the south of the district of Bautzen in the middle of Upper Lusatian Mountains. It is located about 13 km south-east of Bischofswerda and about 14 km southwest of the county town of Bautzen. Steinigtwolmsdorf is located on the main road 98 ( Bischofswerda - OppachEquipment - Zittau ). The nearest train station is Neukirch (Lausitz ) east of the railway line between Dresden - Zittau.

The municipality is bordered by Wilthen in the north, Schirgiswalde - Kirschau and Sohland on the River Spree in the east, Lipová (German Hainspach ) and Lobendava (German Lobendau ) in the south and Neustadt (Saxony) and Neukirch / Lausitz in the West.

History

The main town Steinigtwolmsdorf was founded around the year 1250. 1442 was carried out in the written sources, the first mention of " Stenychtem Wolffersdorfe ." After a small wooden chapel in 1262 the first church was built at its present location in 1363.

The first detectable fief owner of the place, the lords of Hermsdorf, Steinigtwolmsdorf had from 1340 to 1399.

Around 1459 were built on a sheep farm Birkgut the landlords of Haug joke. The inauguration was planted in the courtyard of lime trees sheep. One of these still stands today and is one of the oldest Linden in Lusatia. The trunk circumference is about 8 m and trunk diameter 2.55 m.

Education

The community Steinigtwolmsdorf has a primary school. The middle school in the village was closed in 2001.

Language

According to the classification of Hans spills the western variant of the Upper Lusatian dialect is spoken in the villages of the municipality.
