Spreetal

Spreetal, Upper Sorbian Sprjewiny Dol, is a municipality in the north of the Saxon administrative district of Bautzen and ranks as the third largest municipality in the circle to the area- the largest municipalities in Saxony. The municipality is located in the Sorbian settlement area in Upper Lusatia. The seat of the municipality is located in the central district of Burgneudorf.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located on the border between Brandenburg Spremberg and Hoyerswerda, about 30 km south of Cottbus. The Federal Highway 97 runs through the western part of the municipality and the district Spreetal, while the old road between Spremberg and Hoyerswerda by the districts Zerre, Spree joke Burgneudorf, Burghammer and Castle runs. Neustadt is located on State Road 130 between Burgneudorf and loop on the edge of the New Town Heath and north of the western part of the training area Upper Lusatia.

In addition to the district Spreetal are all districts on the Spree, or the Little Spree, which flows again at Spree joke in the Spree. In addition to the River Spree, the region is marked by decades of coal mining and the surrounding large forest areas. After counting with eight other districts Spreewitz settlement is divided into the actual place and Spree joke.

Of historical significance, the settlement Döschko is south of Neustadt, which was still called in 1744 by Salomon Gottlob Frentzel as a village.

History

The communities Burghammer ( with parts of the municipality, Burg hammer, Burgneudorf and Spreetal ), Neustadt and Spree joke ( with the parts of the municipality Spree wit and Zerre ) formed on 1 April 1993, the administrative community Burgneudorf, which was converted to the administrative organization Burgneudorf January 1, 1994. As part of the municipality reforms in Saxony, the three communities joined on 1 January 1996 along the Spree Valley community, this simplifies management association was dissolved.

Blazon

Importance

Frog and oak leaves in the top panels are for nature in the municipality, hammer and chisel in the sign reminiscent of the lignite mines. The blue asymmetric field boundary symbolizes the two arms of the river from Little and Big Spree, which unite in the community.

Neustadt has approximately 400 inhabitants, the smallest member of the Association Neustadt in Europe, which belong to 36 cities and towns with names Neustadt in six European countries.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Through the community extend the federal highway 97 in North-South and State Road 130 in west-east direction. To the north and southeast of the municipality runs the federal highway 156 from the direction of the Federal Highway 13 coming through Spremberg and white water to Bautzen to the Federal Highway 4

The Brandenburg- Saxon border runs through the middle of the Schwarze Pumpe industrial park, which the community has shares in it. About the Lusatian mining train he is connected to the German railway network. Earlier, the railway Knappenrode - Sornoer stalls past the church.

Education

The community Spreetal has a primary school in Burgneudorf.
