Oberreute

Oberreute is a municipality in the Swabian district of Lindau ( Bodensee) and a member of the administrative community Stiefenhofen. The place is state- recognized health resort.

Geography

Oberreute lies in the planning region Allgäu, about five kilometers from the Austrian border. The municipality is located in an altitude range 860-1041 m above sea level. NN.

History

The present-day districts barn and Schönebühl were once seat of the court. Oberreute was not until the late 18th century. 1797, the first church was built by the residents. The village was part of the Austrian rule Bregenz- Hoheneggstraße. Since the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 the place belonged to Bavaria.

  • The Wildrosenmoos, a landscape complex of wet meadows and bogs, many rare and protected animal and plant species suitable habitats. As a cross- border nature space between Germany and Austria, it offers varied idyllic for hikers and nature lovers.
  • Oberreute divides his most famous Geotop, the house gorge, with Weiler- Simmersberg. The gorge section is one mile long and impressed by washouts and potholes in the sand and Nagelfluhgestein.

  • Johann Evangelist Keller ( * 1824, † 1910), the Reichstag and state representative, mayor of Lindenberg
  • Gunter Steinbach ( * 1938, † 2002) non-fiction author and editor of a successful series of nature guides, lived on a farm in Oberreute - Irsengund since the late 1970s.
