Odelzhausen is a municipality in the western district of Dachau ( Regierungsbezirk Oberbayern ). Odelzhausen together with the communities and Sulzemoos Oberpfaffenhofen at the Glonn the administrative community Odelzhausen.

History

  • First mention of the place as " Otolteshusir " 814 AD in the traditions of the Bishopric of Freising
  • The name came from Otolt or Odholt, the clan elders, who lived about 600 AD or earlier
  • The place was built on the Glonn (Bach), because there was sufficient arable meadows and pastures establishing a rural existence
  • Odelzhausen has a castle / palace, which was built back in 1247. The owners changed frequently, there were aristocratic and bourgeois owners, those owners who were only interested in the brewery located there, and those who were only interested in the related lands. Currently, the castle houses a hotel and an inn.
  • Middle of the 13th century, the old Roman road impassable now, replaced by the highway from Munich to Dachau, Odelzhausen and continue to Friedberg and Augsburg,
  • In the late Middle Ages Odelzhausen was already a purely farming village more: 1468 was already Odelzhausen from 8 farms and seven mercenaries ( innkeeper etc. )

Incorporations

The formerly independent municipality of taxa was incorporated on 1 April 1971. Ebertshausen followed on 1 July 1972. On January 1, 1976, added Sittenbach. Finally Höfa was incorporated on 1 May in 1978.

Already on 1 January 1931, the places of Rossbach and Sixtnitgern were incorporated to Sittenbach.

On the territory of the commune were 1970 2323, 1987, 3211 and 2000 counted 3998 inhabitants in the year.
