Oderwanz, Polish Odrowąż, is a town in Upper Silesia. Oderwanz located in the municipality Gogolin in powiat Krapkowicki in Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Oderwanz is located six kilometers west of the parish seat Gogolin, four kilometers north of the county town of Krapkowice ( Krappitz ) and 19 kilometers south of the voivodship Opole.

Oderwanz located on the Oder. North of Oderwanz runs the A4 motorway.

Neighboring towns of Oderwanz are in the north Malnie ( Malnia ) and in the south Krapkowice ( Krappitz ).

History

The colony Oderwanz was founded in 1776 with 17 houses. 1817 was the place from the district to the district of Opole United Strehlitz. In 1841 the church was consecrated. 1845 there were 24 houses in the village and 163 inhabitants.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 123 voters voted to remain in Germany and 55 for Poland .. Oderwanz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 376 inhabitants in the village. On 3 July 1936, the town was renamed in Oderhöh. 1939, the place had 428 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Odrowąż and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to powiat Krapkowicki. On 30 April 2010, the City also received the official German place names Oderwanz.
