OFC Sliven 2000

OFK ( Obschtinski futbolen Club) Sliven 2000 ( Bulgarian Общински футболен кулб Сливен 2000, shortly OFK Sliven ) is a Bulgarian football club from Sliven. The club currently plays in the A Grupa, the highest Bulgarian division. current trainer is Dijan Petkov.

History

OFK Sliven 2000 was founded on 29 February 2000, after the FK Sliven was bankrupt. The FK Sliven was founded in 1914 as the first local football club in Sliven. Sliven was 1914-1963 different names, eg Asenowetz, DNA, General Zaimow, Mlada Gwardia etc.

After the club rose in the season 1963/63 in the A Grupa, he was named FK Sliven. Between 1963 and 1983 the club played mostly with placings in the league midfielders in A Grupa, until 1983/84 took third place in the A Grupa and thus moved into the UEFA Cup. However, it was eliminated by FK Željezničar Sarajevo. The greatest success the club had in 1990 when they won the Bulgarian Cup with CSKA Sofia ( 2-0). The goals were scored by Valeri Valkov and Jordan Letschkow. This one moved into the Cup Winners' Cup, but retired in the first round against Juventus Turin.

In the years that left all the good players and the club could not achieve more successes. Sliven dismounted in the regional football league and in 2000 was bankrupt. 2000, the club was re- founded and chaired by former player Jordan Letschkow. 2005 Sliven rose to the second league and in 2008 it made ​​the jump to the first division.
