Oktay DerelioÄŸlu

Oktay Derelioğlu ( born December 17, 1975 in Karagümrük, Istanbul) is a Turkish former international footballer.

His career as a professional football player began at Fatih Karagümrük in 1985. At 14 years he had secured a regular place in the first men's team. In 1992 came the move to Trabzonspor. Here he was at the age of 17 years not prevail against the striker colleagues and joined the end of the season for Beşiktaş Istanbul.

In the first half of the season he was very successful, so he was also appointed to the Turkish national team. In 2000 he played in the Spanish league for the club UD Las Palmas, where he could not prevail. In 2001 he moved back to Trabzonspor, where he stayed only briefly and moved to Fenerbahce. In the 2003 /04 season he played for half a season at the 1st FC Nuremberg and the second round, he moved back into the Turkish league to Samsunspor. In the following years he played for Akçaabat Sebatspor, İstanbulspor and Yalovaspor. In the season 2004/ 05 he played under the Turkish coach Rasim Kara FK Khazar Lankaran in Azerbaijan. He was top scorer and voted best player of the season. In 2007 he moved back to his hometown club Fatih Karagümrük and finished his career there.

2008 Oktay Derelioğlu stated that he would like to aim for a career as a coach.

Derelioğlu was one of the most talented strikers in Europe and one has promised a lot from him. Many experts claim that the suicide of his wife and the subsequent dispute with his best friend, the turning point of his career.

He had 20 appearances in the Turkish national team, scoring nine goals there.
