Oldenburg B

The locomotives of the Nos. 1 to 5 of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg Railway ( GOE ) were two-axle locomotives and built for the narrow gauge network of Wangerooger Island Railway. Originally knew the G.O.E. not become generic, the locomotives wore numbers and names. The generic term B has been introduced as a generic term to denote different locomotives in the literature.

# 1

The first locomotive of the train Wangerooger island was purchased in 1895 and 1897 by the ( GOE ). It was a wet steam locomotive, the driving was done on the second axis. She was decommissioned in 1910.

# 2

The second locomotive was purchased in 1900. Where it was previously used, is not precisely known, but presumably it was already used for the Grand-Ducal Baudirektion Wangerooge. They corresponded to the type II of Heilbronn Maschinenbau-Gesellschaft. It was probably taken out of service during the First World War.

# 3

1904 a locomotive of Freudenstein & Co. in Berlin was procured. The only 9.4 ton tank locomotive could carry 1.2 cubic meters of water and 0.35 tons of coal, the water tank was in line, the coal bucket left and right of the boiler. The drive rod acted on the second axis. The locomotive was No. 3

No. 4 and 5

1910 Hanomag a 12.2 t slightly heavier and larger locomotive was ordered. Due to the good experience with this machine another copy in 1913 ordered. These locomotives were given the numbers 4 and 5

Whereabouts

After the founding of the Reichsbahn the machine was taken over as a 3-5 series 99.02 with the numbers 99021-023. The 99 021 (No. 3) and 99 022 (No. 4) had to be handed to the war effort on the Eastern Front in 1942, where loses its track.

The 99 023 (No. 5) remained on Wangerooge and there has been slightly modified. She received an enlarged water tank, wooden window flaps and an electrically operated lantern. She has been out of service in 1957.
