Oldenburg S 10

The express train locomotives of Class S 10 of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg railway were designed to operate on the route Bremen -Oldenburg - Wilhelmshaven, the main express route Oldenburg. They were among the few vehicles of this railway, which were not based on the vehicles of the Prussian state railways, as caused by the slight superstructure given average maximum axle load of 15 t was lower than in comparable Prussian vehicles.

The three vehicles of this series were built by Hanomag in 1917 and had the rare in Germany 1'C1 wheel arrangement ' ( Prairie). They had, as usual, in Oldenburg, a control valve of the type Lentz. The three S 10 vehicles were taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as Class 16 with numbers 16001-16003. They were the only express locomotives wheel arrangement 1'C1 ' and therefore got their own series. After the lines were expanded for 17 t axle load, the interference-prone S, 10 but in 1926 retired and replaced by Prussian P 8, which were used in Oldenburg since 1921.

The locomotives were equipped with a Tender respondents to type old 2'2 ' T 20.
