Oldenburg T 1

The steam locomotives of Class T 1 of the Oldenburg State Railways were four-coupled tank locomotives for shunting and construction train service. There were two types, of which the younger is still passes as a series 98.74 in the collections of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Class T 1

The first type, referred to as T 1, was created in collaboration with Krauss in their own railway workshops of the company. The 12 built 1871-1873 quite small locomotives are among the few that have been developed specifically for the Oldenburg train. They had at an empty mass of 11.3 t a length over buffers of 6,436 mm, an allowable boiler pressure of 10 bar and 40 km / h maximum speed limit.

These locomotives (train points 47 to 62) were partly acting bizarre names like Snip, snap, Schnurr, Tick, tack or Tuck. Your decommissioning took place before the establishment of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Class T 1.2

Between 1888 and 1892 the Oldenburg State Railways procured another 18 piece four-coupled tank locomotives, designated as class T 12. Instead of re- Eigenbaus the machines were ordered from the Hohenzollern AG in Dusseldorf. This subgenus was also designed specifically for the Oldenburg train.

Compared to the original version, the locomotives had a higher boiler pressure to 2 bar, a larger 110 mm coupling wheel and a larger 5 mm cylinder diameter. The top speed was increased to 45 km / hr. The cramped cab had deviated from the common type, a forward and backward sloping domed roof.

Five specimens of this type were not taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as 98 7401-98 7405. The last two locomotives were retired in 1933.
