Oleguer Bonestruga (* around 1060 in Barcelona, † March 6, 1137 ) was Bishop of Barcelona and Archbishop of Tarragona. His remains are interred in the Chapel of Christ of Lepanto in the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Life and work

Oleguer Bonestruga was born the son of a noble family in Barcelona. His father was a high official of Ramon Berengar I, Count of Barcelona. His mother came from the Guilia Gothic nobility.

Before he became bishop of Barcelona, ​​he was chairman of the canon of Barcelona, ​​Sant Adrià de Besòs Sant and the monastery reputation with Avinyó. He founded the collegiate church of Santa Maria in Terrassa. During the tenure of Pope Paschal II, he was appointed in 1116 Mauguio, the main town of the former county Melgueil in southern France, as bishop of Barcelona.
