One-sided overhand bend

The blind stitch is a knot for joining two ropes.

Application

The Overhand serves as a quick and easy connection of two ropes. He holds comparatively poor, the knot strength is in the form of drops about 44 percent. After loading the node is almost impossible to solve. When plugged Overhand knot strength is about 63 percent.

The Overhand in drop form slips particularly well by a snap hook, because it is smooth on one side. As a brief endless sling it can also be placed as a terminal - node or loop into a crevice and thus serve as a temporary backup point.

The blind stitch is also used to close by Slings and contributes therefore also the name of a tape loop knot. Due to security risks associated with this application, the tape loop node is now sometimes referred to as a death node.

Tie

Overhand in drop form

The cord ends are placed side by side and then a overhand knot is tied with the double rope ( see figure above).

Plugged Overhand

In one end of the rope a loose overhand knot is looped. With the other end of the rope you drive in opposite directions parallel to the first due (as in the tape loop nodes).

Alternatives

  • ( Called also partly Double overhand knot ) A rollercoaster loop keeps better than cable connection and is easier to solve.
  • The Zeppelinstek is even easier to solve and reliable.
  • In the maritime sector, Schotstek is taught.
  • Thickness lines are connected to double Schotstek.
  • Thickness ropes are connected to the Trossenstek.
  • In wet and slippery linen and Angelgarn the fisherman's knot stops at best.
  • When mountain climbing, the fisherman's knot was formerly used.

Modifications

  • Considering a overhand knot in a ribbon and moves exactly opposite this with a second band after the band loop knot is formed as a combination of two bands. However, there are security risks in the practical application of this type of belt joint. A sudden opening of the tape loop node is considered to cause a number of serious accidents. The tape loop node has therefore become the subject of a discussion of its further application.
  • Twisted to the eye a second time and then goes just opposite to the end after, gives the Flemish eight knot.
  • If you put a bay with the rope and ties with this an overhand knot, creating a leader node with a fixed loop.
  • Anglers use for Seitenarmmontage a double overhand, which they refer to as " water knot".
