Open Up and Say ... Ahh! is the title of the second studio album released in 1988 by the U.S. glam metal band Poison. It was the first in Europe successful album of the group and in the U.S. is the most successful album ever, the band released there: It reached number two on the Billboard album charts. With the title Your Mama Do not Dance it contains the cover version of a Top Ten hits of the singer-songwriter duo Loggins and Messina in 1972. Too Poison is to place this item in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 succeeded.
Background
The band's debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In was produced in the United States not only first attention for Poison, but the band almost catapulted into the album charts, where it reached number three on 23 May 1987 and a total of 101 weeks held in the hit list. The singles were extraordinarily successful for a debut: Talk Dirty to Me reached number ten, I Will not Forget You place 13 and I Want Action after all, still ranked number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100
The follow-up album was recorded in winter 1988/1989 in Conway Recording Studios in Los Angeles. Originally, Paul Stanley ( lead singer and guitarist of Kiss take over production, but had to decline. Instead his Tom Werman was committed, who had already worked with Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Twisted Sister and Mötley Crüe. The album was May 3, 1988 published, the first single from the was the title Nothin 'But a Good Time.
Originally the cover of the album was to show a painted as a tiger woman's face that sticks out a long pointed tongue. Once in the U.S., but especially Christian organizations criticized this cover, the image in the sequence was masked so that only the woman's eyes were visible. Since the new edition of the album in 2006, however, the original image is used again.
