Openfire

Openfire (formerly Wildfire and Jive Messenger ) is an XMPP server, which is written in the Java programming language and is released under the Apache License 2.0.

The Openfire server is virtually platform-independent thanks to Java implementation and can be with the help of setup files on all operating systems install easily. The manufacturer Jive Software also developed the Spark XMPP client, which covers all the features of Openfire, but can of course be used with any other client XMPP support. The connection between the server and client can be unencrypted or encrypted with SSL / TLS. Openfire supports the LDAP protocol and can thus be used together with Active Directory.

About the current optional plug-ins can be forwarded, messages with specific content (such as spam) filtering, user notifications are sent when new e -mail messages or the message of the day offline messages. A plugin enables server-side integration of ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo and Google Talk. Also there is a plugin that SIP telephony via the XMPP client Spark with a Red5 (Flash) enables extension.
