Orane Demazis

Orane Demazis, actually Henriette Marie -Louise Burgart ( born September 18, 1904 in Oran, † 25 December 1991 in Boulogne- Billancourt or in Paris) was a French actress.

She came from a family originally Alsatian, who had emigrated after 1870 to Algeria.

Her stage name is derived from the two Algerian city name Oran and mace.

She was trained in 1919 by Denis d' Inès in Paris at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique and joined in 1922 the troupe of the Théâtre de l'Atelier under Charles Dullin to. In the following years, she had roles in plays by Alfred de Musset, Prosper Mérimée, Luigi Pirandello, Alexandre Arnoux and Marcel Achard. After the encounter with Marcel Pagnol 1923, she moved from the stage to film. In 1926, he hired her for his play Phaéton and created the role of Fanny for them in the Marseilles trilogy ( Marius, Fanny and César ). In 1933 she bore him a son, Jean -Pierre Burgart.
