Geography

Orosháza situated on the Great Hungarian Plain, south-east Hungary, on the limited by the rivers Körös and Mures Békéser level.

History

Orosháza was indeed already in 1466 first mentioned, but it was after the conquest by the Ottomans in a deserted village. It was not until 1744 the place on the plain was repopulated by Protestants expelled from the city of Zomba.

In the first half of the 19th century the place was still a village with 6000 inhabitants, mostly Lutheran, has horse - wind and Öhlmühlen, strong viticulture, major cattle, sheep and pig breeding. The connection to the railway line Nagyvarad - Fiume in 1870 brought the farming town a boost with the establishment of Instriebetrieben.
