Orozimbo Fuenzalida

Orozimbo Fuenzalida y Fuenzalida ( May 22nd, 1925 in Bantval, † March 27, 2013 in Santiago de Chile) was Bishop of San Bernardo.

Life

Orozimbo Fuenzalida y Fuenzalida studied philosophy and theology at the Seminary of Santiago and at the Theological Faculty of the Catholic University of Chile. On March 10, 1951, he received in the Cathedral of Rancagua by Bishop Eduardo Larrain the priesthood. He was in the Diocese of Rancagua active, including as pastor in Pichilemu, diocesan consultant of Catholic Action and diocesan vicar for rural ministry.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on March 13, 1968 prelates of Calama and Titular Bishop of Burca. The Archbishop of Antofagasta Francisco de Borja Valenzuela Ríos consecrated him on 19 May of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Alejandro Durán Moreira, Bishop of Los Ángeles, José del Carmen Valle Gallardo, Bishop of Iquique.

On February 26, 1970, he was appointed bishop of Los Ángeles and introduced on April 18, 1970 to office. On 13 July 1987 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of San Bernardo. On 10 October 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.

He was 1979 participants at the second General Conference of Latin American Bishops at Puebla. He held various positions in the Chilean Episcopal Conference. He founded on 18 March 1989, the seminary of San Bernardo.
