Osborne House

In the north of the Isle of Wight, East Cowes is the Osborne House, the former estate of Queen Victoria of Great Britain, on which she died on 22 January 1901. She bought the house in 1845 as a private retreat place for themselves and their family. They had the castle extensive remodel and expand in the Italian style. The house next to several hundred acres of land still has several more houses like Bladon Manor. The extensive park was used as a playhouse for the children, a Swiss mountain house, Swiss Cottage, built.

Your successor King Edward VII had after the death of his mother no longer meaningful use for the property. He gave it in 1903 to the British nation. There has since been a museum open to everyone and is largely in original condition.

From 1903 to 1921, the Royal Naval College was housed in part of the property.
