Oskar Svärd
Oskar Svärd ( born September 19, 1976 in Tvärred, community Ulricehamn ) is a Swedish cross country skier who is successful especially in the ski marathon.
Career
Svärd, who started at the beginning of his career for the club Vålådalen SK, his active career began in 1999 at FIS races in Sweden. After the soldier sport here in the meantime achieved good results, he was nominated for Military World Ski Championships 2000 in Saalfelden. There he reached the 56th place in the race over 15 kilometers. In December 2000, Svärd tried for two races starting in the Continental Cup, withdrew from it, however, for lack of success back. On February 10, 2002 Svärd launched first time at the Worldloppet series. He came at the Tartu Maraton already in his first start more than 27 kilometers in the classic style to tenth place. Only three weeks later, in March he reached the Vasaloppet third place and first stood on the podium. In the following year he started back in the ski marathon. He was able to win early in the season the Isergebirgslauf. After a third place at the Tartu Maraton and Marcialonga and a fourth place at the Dolomitenlauf he won the Vasaloppet over 90 kilometers. At the Swedish Championships in cross-country skiing two weeks later in soil Svärd missed with a 19th place in the sprint and a 12th place about 50 km top rankings.
In the military World Ski Championships 2003 in Rovaniemi, Finland he could his achievements after 2001 again not to increase and reached only number 44 over 15 kilometers. 2004 Svärd won again the Isergebirgslauf. Two weeks after the race on January 25, 2004 Svärd made his debut in the Cross Country World Cup. However, in Val di Fiemme he could not finish the race over 70 kilometers. During the sprint race in February in Stockholm, he reached the 28th place. So he reached the 67th place in the Sprint Appreciation in the World Cup at the end of the season 2003/ 04. At the end, he finished in the Marathon Cup second place in the overall standings. In the military World Ski Championships 2010 in Cogne he reached the 26th place over 15 km.
