Ossendrecht

Ossendrecht is a village in the municipality of Woensdrecht in the southwest of the Netherlands.

Location and description

The place is located in the province of Noord- Brabant in unmittelbeare close to the Belgian border. It is located about 3 kilometers ( km) south of Hoogerheide (the largest district and seat of the municipality ), 15 km south of Bergen op Zoom and 20 km north of the city center of Antwerp. Ossendrecht has an area of ​​29.57 km ² 5217 inhabitants (as of 2008 ), making it the second largest district after Hoogerheide Woensdrecht.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1187. On January 1, 1997, until then independent Ossendrecht became part of the newly created United municipality of Woensdrecht.
