Ostrava is a town in the municipality Petersberg in the Saale district, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). It consists of the districts Mösthinsdorf, Ostrava and Werderthau.

History

Ostrava was first documented in 1125, when Conrad M. Graf gave to Wettin, later Margrave of Meissen, the monastery on the Petersberg Capellam Ostrowe. Attractions

In the north of the village stands the baroque palace Schloss Ostrava, which was built by Louis Remy de la Fosse for the family of Veltheim who lived in Ostrava to 1945. The last owner of the castle was the Indologist, anthropologist and world traveler Hans- Hasso von Veltheim († 1956). Today the castle is mainly used as an elementary school and apartment building.

In and around the castle and annual community festivals, one of the most important and probably most important in the community Ostrava is the castle and park festival.

The baroque palace church was consecrated in 1703 and is now used by the congregation for worship and concerts.
